Volkswagen updates Grand California and adds Dune special edition
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has opened UK order books for an updated Grand California campervan and a new Dune Special Edition, with prices starting at £68,960 ex VAT.
The MY27 Grand California receives interior changes, additional storage and the option of solar panels through a new Off-Grid Package. Volkswagen says the changes are intended to make the campervan more comfortable for longer trips, while the entry price is £1,000 lower than before.
Inside, Atami Bamboo trim and a matching wood-effect floor give the cabin a warmer finish. Practical updates include extra storage and a flexible foldout table.
The optional Off-Grid Package is designed to extend stays away from mains power. It combines solar panels with two 40Ah lithium iron phosphate batteries, which Volkswagen says provide 40 per cent more usable battery capacity. The package was recently announced; the company has not included its price in the information provided.
Alongside the updated standard model, the Dune Special Edition adds styling and equipment for a £1,000 premium over the standard Grand California. It is finished in Ascot Grey, with black grained bumpers and model-specific “Dune” decals on the front and sides.
The special edition also includes 17-inch black Lismore alloy wheels, Climatronic air conditioning, ambient lighting and LED headlights with automatic headlight control, alongside separate LED daytime running lights.
Prices for the Dune start at £69,960 excluding VAT. Volkswagen also quotes monthly Solutions Personal Contract Plan payments from £499 for the standard model and £529 for the Dune. The supplied release summary does not include the finance terms, so buyers will need to check the full offer details.
The changes position the Grand California as a more customisable base for touring, with the Dune offering additional equipment and a distinct exterior treatment.
